MPM 17 Graphic Designer
Meet Felicia Cantu
Felicia is a freelance graphic designer with 15 years of experience, specializing in brand and merch design with a focus on illustration. I’m also a fine artist with 23 years of experience through commissions and gallery showings, creating work that spans textiles to Suminagashi prints. My creative process has been shaped by curiosity, exploration, and, many times, my love of water — from endurance competitions and solo travel abroad to studying various mediums. Originally from the Bay Area, she has called Portland home for 19 years, where she’s found a strong sense of belonging within its community of artists and makers.
This year’s Winter Market campaign was inspired by the tradition of quilting, which has long been used to preserve stories and histories. Drawing on that tradition, she created a graphic narrative through a visual quilt that reflects this year’s theme of care — whether wrapping yourself in a quilt, giving one, or receiving one. Built on a vibrant, rich color palette, the visuals weave together care-focused elements, like hot cocoa and gift-giving, alongside iconic Portland symbols and past market imagery, celebrating the city, its diverse vendors, and the layered cultural history behind My People’s Market.
There’s no other place she would rather live than Portland. Over the past year, she has focused on becoming more involved in the community through events and collaborations, which is why she is especially looking forward to meeting the many vendors at MPM this year who bring our vibrant community to life.
